Delete Account

You can delete your Word Cards account and all personal data using the options below.

Request account deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, send us a deletion request from the email address connected to your Word Cards account. The button opens your email app with a ready-to-send template.

1. How to delete your account

You can delete your account in two ways:

  • In the app: go to Settings > Delete Account. This starts deletion of your account and the personal data we hold in Word Cards.
  • By email: send a message with the subject “Delete Account” to support@wordcards.app from the email address you used to create your account.

2. What data is deleted

On your request, the following data is permanently deleted or anonymized:

  • Your account and profile information (name, email, user ID)
  • Your learning progress, quiz results, streaks, and cloud backups
  • Custom lists, favorites, device and synchronization records
  • Notification tokens, preferences, and technical records that Word Cards is not legally required to retain

3. What may be retained for a limited period

Limited records may be retained only as required for legal obligations, tax/accounting records, store or payment disputes, security, fraud prevention, abuse investigations, legal claims, or platform audits. Some payment and subscription records may be retained by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat under their own policies. Word Cards does not store payment card details.

4. When it is deleted (15-day recovery window)

When you request in-app deletion, your account enters a 15-day recovery window. During this period your account is deactivated and scheduled for deletion; if you sign in again within 15 days, you can cancel the request and restore your account. After the 15 days end, your account and the personal data we hold in Word Cards are permanently deleted. If manual verification or a support flow is required, your request is processed within 30 days at the latest. Limited records that must be retained are deleted, destroyed, or anonymized once the required period ends.

5. Delete data without deleting your account

You can also request deletion of some app data without deleting your Word Cards account. Send your request to support@wordcards.app from the email address connected to your account and tell us which data you want removed, such as learning progress, quiz history, streaks, custom lists, favorites, feedback records, notification preferences, or cloud backups. We may ask for information to verify your identity, and data required to keep your account active, provide subscriptions, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, or maintain security may be retained for the required period.
